We are hiring across a range of levels but ideal candidate will have more than five years experience working across a range of industries and on a diversity of projects.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience.
  • AutoCAD, REVIT and Sketchup proficiency
  • Strong design and detailing experience with excellent technical and site / knowledge
  • Experience working with Irish Building and Planning Regulations,
  • Experience of preparing planning, tender and construction details and documentation
  • Experience working on large scale commercial, industrial and public sector works
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. Excellent teamwork and communication!
  • Ability to use initiative and have excellent problem-solving abilities

Clerk of Works

10+ Years Experience

AFEC Fire Engineering are seeking a Clerk of Works with 10+ years ecperience to join our rapidly expanding Fire Engineering, Architecture and Construction firm based in Dublin. The ideal candidate will have more than ten years experience of site based projects of various scale

 

Duties:

  • Ensure all works on site are carried out in full compliance with required standards including Health & Safety.
  • Regularly check completed works and works in progress and compare it with project plans
  • Measure and sample building materials to check their quality
  • Attend progress meetings and ensure all reported issues are properly dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Regularly attend site inspections, snagging and handovers of work delivered.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a, Foreman, Site engineer, Clerk of works or Site Manager, ideally with Client and Contractor.
  • Hold relevant qualifications, Health and Safety and Fire specific qualifications are a distinct advantage

Fire Engineer

All levels

AFEC Fire Engineers are seeking to hire two Fire Engineers of varying experience levels to join our rapidly expanding Fire Engineering, Architecture and Construction firm based in Dublin. The ideal candidate will have worked across a range of industries and on a diversity of projects.

 

We have a particular interest in 3-5 years and 5-10 years experience, however, we will look st candidates at all levels including senior.

 

Must have

  • Autocad and MS Office proficiency. Revit and SketchUp are a huge advantage
  • Knowledge of Irish building regulations, part b fire, part m access
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Excellent construction detail
  • Have an in depth understanding of other engineering and architecture disciplines
  • Skills in project coordination skills
  • On site experience

Responsibilities

Acknowledge responsibility for the design and specification of all construction details with respect to compliance with Part B of the Building Regulations

 

Provide compliance report confirming / demonstrating compliance with building regulations

 

Approvals

  • Consult with fire authority as required
  • Fire safety review of all design proposals and different design options
  • Fire engineering analysis ( as required )
  • Compliance report preparation
  • Review of DAC

 

Detailed Design Stage

  • Review arch detailed design drawings and specifications to ensure full compliance with TGB B  and provide support and assistance as required
  • Review M&E detailed design drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with TGD B and provide support and assistance as required
  • Review civil and structural design drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with TGD B and provide support and assistance as required
  • Provide design certification BCAR Ed
  • Attend project meetings as required
  • Provide design support as required
  • Advise specifically on passive fire protection requirements ( fire doors, fire glazing systems, fire partition systems, fire stopping, fire protection to structural members )
  • Advise on active fire protection systems ( smoke control and fire alarm system )
  • Prepare cause and effect matrix
  • Review all consultants design certification
  • Fire safety review of all design proposals and design options if necessary
  • Undertake as necessary fire engineering analysis to test viability of different design options
  • Provide information to the detailed specification
  • Liase on documentation required for the fire cert

 

Construction Stage Overview  

  • Formulate fire safety inspection plan ( weekly at a minimum )
  • Non-conformance tracker creation

 

Construction Stage Material Selection

  • responsibility of approvals of all materials and products used for fire stopping
  • responsible for approvals of life safety systems

 

Construction Stage Test Samples

  • confirm firestopping details comply with section 3.4 TGD B and materials used are installed in compliance with manufacturers details

 

Oversight

  • Co-ordinate and co-operate in preparation of specifications and other design documentation
  • Check scope of fire related sub contractors
  • Advice on suitability assessment process for subcontractors
  • Attend meetings as necessary
  • Periodic inspections
  • Final inspection
  • Execute letters of compliance
  • Review any changes affecting the design as set out in fire cert
  • Witness testing of fire protection systems
  • Issue certs of compliance

 

Handover

  • Opinions of compliance
  • Compliance with Fire Services Act 1981
  • Health Safety & Welfare at Work Act 2005

 

Fire Safety Management Documentation

  • Fire safety policy statement;
  • Fire alarm response procedures;
  • Routine maintenance of fire protection systems;
  • Routine fire precautions and housekeeping;
  • Designation of duties of key personnel and staff training;
  • Evacuation procedures complete with departmental Evacuation Drawings;
  • Necessary documentation to complete the pre fire planning program with the Local Authority Fire Department.

Building services design engineer required

The successful candidate will assist the Project Manager and provide technical support to the construction team:

Assist with the preparation of reports and front end studies including capital cost estimates, project schedules, material take off’s and out to tender schedules.

  • Assist with the preparation of technical and contract documentation for issue and analysing returned tenders.
  • Prepare & keep up to date the delivery schedule to control deliveries
  • Seek to clarify queries with the Design team through the request for information (RFI) system
  • Prepare programs using MS project.
  • Monitor progress against the program and issue progress reports.
  • Produce look ahead programs to assist production.
  • Prepare method statements and risk assessments (with construction team) for production activities
  • Maintain a register of contract variations.
  • Prepare test packs for recording the completion of systems.
  • Carry out Quality Control through inspections and snagging
  • Carry out document control, recording & transmitting information
  • Assisting projects with financial control of contracts during construction stage.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with clients other members of the design team and contractors on technical and commercial issues.

 

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 – 4 years experience
  • Have general IT skills, knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office packages would be a distinct advantage.
