Longboat quay fire safety

Longboat Quay deal reached to remedy Fire Safety defects

A deal worth over €3 million has been reached to fix fire safety defects at the Longboat Quay in the Dublin City Docklands.

The hazards were identified two years ago but a long legal has finally settled that Dublin City Council will pay €1.85 million while the receivers of Bernard McNamara’s company Gendsong will pay the remainder to contribute toward the repairs.

Reported in the Irish Times, “Concerns over fire safety in the complex arose in February of last year. The following October, after repairs it had sought were not carried out, Dublin Fire Brigade issued a fire safety notice ordering that work, including the installation of a smoke ventilation system and fire-stopping materials, be done.”
